Manage Your Time, Manage Your Life By Lois Tiedemann Have you ever heard yourself or someone else say, "Man I would have done that, I just ran out of time." Or, "I didn't have enough time, maybe next time around!" Or, "There's just not enough hours in the day! Where did the time go?" Well, if you have heard that or thought that, or even, on that rare occasion, said any of these statements yourself (insert sheepish grin here), don't sweat it. You are not alone. All of us have been there. I know I have been. My father taught me a very powerful thing. He taught me how to manage and structure my time in such a way that I could fit more into my day than most. He was a farmer who toiled over the land and was up at the crack of dawn 365 days a year in order to get the cows milked. He showed me that Mother nature commands structure and time focused energy. Cows deserved to be milked at certain times of the day like clockwork - no exceptions to the rule. Seeds were to be sown in the Spring, to be harvested in due time in the Fall. Just as the sun rises and sets, and the tide rises and falls, so does time pass through the hourglass of our lives (and I am not talking about your figure here). Somewhere, however, in between my upbringing and my sales and wealth building career, I forgot some of those sage pearls of wisdom I learned from Mother Nature and Father Time and fell into that obsessive compulsive "American Dream" trap of "You've only arrived at time freedom when you have the money to be free". I would work 24/7 and workout my body/Spirit with reckless abandon - attending every networking event, every church social, every workout function and never slow down. Always focused on the next dollar and next…..thing. It took a business failure, an emergency room visit to the hospital and complete financial upheaval to get my attention and respect time. I hope it doesn't take that for you. What is it going to take for you to take a look at your time budget choices and create time freedom for you? I guarantee you, your time is now. You don't have to wait another minute. (And even if you did, that minute is gone forever) Here is what I am talking about. In creating wealth, do you believe it is only possible to achieve freedom once you have a certain amount of money in your bank account? Or, can you create that time freedom/liberty now? Today. In this very moment. Do you have to wait until you have that cash flow or that investment portfolio? My point is this. Time waits for no one. You don't get to create more time. You can create more money - even if you have a negative $250 in your bank account now or a positive $250,000, it does not matter - time does not stand still. Your time is now! Once that second, minute or hour passes, it is gone forever. You don't create more sand in your hourglass AND you don't know when it will run out for you. You do get 24 hours in a day, 365 (or 366) days a year. So do I. Yet, the life in your years and the years in your life are not equal. That is your choice. What does time management mean for you? Does it mean that you get to work early so you can get off early to go to your son's soccer game? What does that cost to you? I am guessing that that is priceless time for you. Time like that will not be made up. Does time management mean that you get up early to go to the gym in order to feel healthier? Or you sleep in late, skipping the workout and staying late after work to get that next "deal" closed? Is your health worth that little to you? Does it mean, early to bed, early to rise, makes a man, healthy, wealthy and wise? Or are you too busy making a living versus designing a life of time balanced choices? Here are three tips today to leave you with a bit of support in helping you create balanced time management choices that will create abundance and wealth of time. 1. Do one thing every day for yourself. This may sound selfish, however, it is not. Take a break in the middle of the day for lunch with a friend. Get up early and watch the sunrise. Or, get home early to watch the sunset with the one you love. Do something for you. Get a massage. Create the time to be you. 2. Do one thing every day for your health. Eat a healthy breakfast, or, simply eat breakfast (for those of you that normally don't). Drink eight glasses of water. Go to that workout at the gym. Go for that run with your business partner or life partner. Play catch with your son/daughter who made the team. Take those vitamins or supplements. Get eight hours of sleep. 3. Do one thing every day for your wealth. Meet with your financial planner. Set that budget. Start that financial class. Attend church or synagogue and find out what God says about money. Find that accountability partner to hold you to your financial commitments. Invest in that real estate property. Create that residual income stream opportunity.
