Supplements or not? What does your body say?

Published by bodymind under Health & Wellness

Just recently I came accross another technology that allowed me to understand what supplementation my body wanted.  When I first heard that this was possible I was a bit skeptical, but once I understood a bit more about it and expreirenced it for myself, I was quite surprised.  As a matter of fact, I was so taken by this technology that I decided to purchase my own “Compass“.   As many of you know, I have been using Natures Sunshine Products and Young Living Essential Oils for years , and they have given me great results.  But one of the challenges I faced from time to time is to determine exactly which product my body would best use at any particular time.  This simple tool has now filled in that void and I trust it may help you in the same manner.

I invite you to learn more about this technology through the video below.  If you have questions, feel free to contact me at (858)538-2622.

If you wish to purchase one for yourself, check it out at www.hercompass.com.

Successfully change the way you feel and think through your voice

Published by bodymind under Health & Wellness

What if you could use your voice as a tool to help you change the way you think and feel?  What if it was as simple as that?

EVOX Clearing Emotional Roadblocks Using Voice RepatterningClearing Emotional Roadblocks Using Voice Repatterning

Did you know that in order for you to speak you must use nearly your entire body?  Think about it for just a moment.  You use your breath, your muscles (diaphraghm, vocal cords, etc.), your feelings impact your voice, and even your thoughts influence the way your voice sounds. Therefore, your voice has an “imprint” of your body, emotions, and thoughts.

Imagine if you could capture a snapshot of those voice imprints.  What if you could use your voice to identify stress within the body, emotions, and thoughts?  Even better, what if you could re-pattern the exact opposite frequencies of those stressors and bring them back into balance?  Wouldn’t that be a very interesting process?

Well, as you might have guessed our technology of the 21st century can do just that.   There is a “new”   dynamic instrument which records short voiceprints, analyzes them, and converts the results into frequencies, which then play back to you as part of a multi-sensory experience with amazing results.

Knowing how your body harmonizes is a powerful tool in achieving your optimal health, and this technology can do just that.

Why am I sharing this with you?   It is simply because I wanted you to know that this technology is now in San Diego.  You will probably begin to hear more about it very soon as it establishes its proven results in San Diego.  But in the meantime, if you wish to experience it for yourself let me know and I’ll be happy to share where you can find this technology.

Simply call me at (858)538-2622.

Your future well being depends solely on whether you can leave your past behind!

Published by bodymind under Health & Wellness

I have been asked what would be good recommendations for lowering high cholesterol levels. Eliminate any food that has the word fast or quick in it. Eliminate artificial foods. Eat foods high in fiber, particularly soluble fiber, like oats, fruit, beans, and some legumes. Add omega 3s to your diet, whether it be supplements or fish. Add lecithin to your supplements. Add garlic to your supplements and meals. Chew your food, and then, chew it some more. Don’t drink liquids at a meal.

My mind not only wanders, sometimes it leaves completely.

Scientists are thinking they may have at last found the cause of premature aging. DHEA or, dehydroepiandosterone, produced in the adrenals is the primary hormone of the body. It is frequently referred to as the mother steroid because it is the precursor to all steroid hormones and active metabolites. The body converts DHEA on demand into hormones needed such as estrogen, testosterone, progesterone, oxytocin, and cortisone. Although often called the anti-aging or anti-obesity hormone, additional evidence suggests DHEA has significant anti-tumor, anti-cancer effects. Research shows there is a relationship between decreased levels of DHEA and most degenerative diseases.

DHEA blood levels peak between ages 20 to 25 and then decline with age in both men and women. DHEA is also a precursor of stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline. DHEA is the precursor to insulin. Every time the body makes these hormones, DHEA levels are depleted. According to scientists the decline of DHEA in the body is the most reliable indicator of aging and susceptibility to disease. By the last year of life there is less than five percent of what was available at age 20. Most age researchers agree that to retard aging DHEA blood levels must be maintained at levels found in people in their 20’s.

So how do you maintain your levels of DHEA? Keep your blood sugar in balance. Oh yea, KEEP your blood sugar in balance! Keep your adrenals healthy! Stress is the hardest thing on adrenals, control it. I just read this article stating that the indicators of stress are eating too much, drinking too much, impulse buying and driving fast. What??? That’s my idea of a perfect day! But I digress …… on with health.

The fallacy of the AMA fix for blood sugar problems is ending. Insulin is not the answer. All blood sugar problems, including diabetes, are curable. Blood sugar problems can be caused from many assorted problems; usually it is bowel parasites, transfat diet, high omega 6 diet, high saturated fat diet, low omega 3 diet, adrenal exhaustion, and a mineral deficiency.

Parasites weaken the liver and pancreas with their toxins, not allowing either to function properly. Parasites also cause the craving for high glycemic foods, in turn weakening the liver and pancreas. Parasites, particularly candida overgrowth, cause a vicious cycle of downward spiraling health.

The pancreas relies on chromium to function normally; the Standard American Diet, or SAD, is notoriously deficient in this mineral. SAD, with its overload of high glycemic foods, uses what little is in the diet quickly. Our cells need vanadium for the process of cellular blood sugar absorption. This mineral is also deficient in SAD.

A low omega 3 diet causes the cells to become insulin desensitized, requiring more and more insulin to balance blood sugar. SAD is typically low in omega 3s. Lecithin is also needed to maintain the fat structure, and SAD is low in lecithin.

To begin with, helping any blood sugar problem, the parasites and candida over growth must be eliminated. The diet must be altered to eliminate high glycemic foods. This is not permanent, but must be controlled for life. This practice should be standard for any person thirty-five and older.

When blood sugar levels goes up or down, the brain is deprived of oxygen and this affects the ability to think properly, so you go out and vote. You may wake up in the morning tired or go to bed tired, irritable, impatient, with night urination, headaches, blurred vision, and dizziness. Your circulation slows, your hands and feet feel cold, and your legs “go to sleep,” particularly the quadriceps. High glycemic foods are the culprits involved with both high and low blood sugar problems. Our bodies are created with a mechanism to properly metabolize the natural carbohydrates such as most fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. High glycemic foods are absorbed so fast into the blood that the only way for the body to control it is release lipase. The lipase then elevates the amount of fat in the bloodstream. This fat, an omega 6, interferes with the function of natural insulin. Omega 3s DON’T. If you have a strong pancreas, it will create enough insulin to partially overpower the fat and keep the blood sugar within tolerable levels. That is providing that the liver is healthy enough to convert the sugar into fat as fast than the pancreas can tolerate it. Along with the liver and the pancreas, the kidneys excrete excess sugar from the blood until they are burned beyond proper function.

Ever hear about sugar addiction? It is the number one addiction in the world. It is important to stay away from high glycemic foods, particularly once you are middle aged. Middle age used to be 35, but is chronologically a younger age all the time. Our bodies need the proper kind of sugar. Sugar is fuel, sugar is glucose. Without glucose in our blood, we can go into a coma and die. Glucose provides energy. Glucose is so important that the body will make sugar from fats or protein. We need to avoid this, however, the byproducts of this process damage the body.

Low blood sugar symptoms such as sudden headaches, uneasiness, sweats, lightheadedness, disorientation, and sudden loss of energy are now a frequent occurrence. Many people have been told to cope with this problem by snacking on something sweet. The problem is that when they do this the same problem reoccurs a few hours later and they have to repeat the whole process again. People with low blood sugar have a hard time keeping their weight down. Pregnant women have a difficult time carrying a baby full term. In an extreme case of low blood sugar a coma can result and even death. Many automobile collisions and job related accidents are nothing more than low blood sugar with momentary blackouts happening.

OK, what do I do about it? Because this problem is so body encompassing, see a health practioner for a diet and supplement regime.

The best way to forget all your troubles is to wear tight shoes.

Amazing what technology can do for our health

Published by bodymind under Health & Wellness

This past week I had the opportunity to attend a training on some of the latest technology for helping people empower their health decision making process. I was reminded of how technological we have become and the amazing things technology can do.

For example, did you know there is a simple device where you simply put your hand on a hand cradle and by doing so your body will indicate which supplementation your body would like.? Or by a similar process, in a few minues a health professional can gather more accurate information of what your body’s stressors and balancers are? Or that voice recognition along with this hand cradle system has been combined to help an individual change mental and emotional patterns in a few minutes?

It is amazing what the 21st century is creating. I love the use of technology, and I love it even more when it is being used to help individuals empower their health and the health of others.

In one of my articles I share how in less than 10 minutes I was able to eliminate a chronic discomfort I had in my neck for years. (In case you’re interested, press here for that article) I am so taken by this technology that I’ve decided to use it to help others empower their own health and wellness by using it. You’ll see more about this in the near future. But for now I just wanted to express my excitement of these experiences. If you are so eager to find out more about these technologies and don’t want to wait until my future newsletters, simply contact me and I’ll be happy to share what i know.

The first two technologies I’m most excited about are the ones that helped me eliminate my pains, and the second is the technology that is helping me determine what supplementation my body needs. If either one of those are of interest to you, I encourage you to contact me.

Who cares about digestion? If you do, read this article…

Published by bodymind under Health & Wellness

Digestive System Health:

Health and Digestive SystemA balanced diet is important for the maintenance of optimal health. However, without the aid of the digestive system, the foods we consume would not be converted into energy needed to support life. The digestive system is a complex series of organs and glands that work in concert to break down the foods we eat into smaller molecules that can be utilized by the body.

The process of digestion begins in the mouth, where food is partially broken down by the process of chewing and by the chemical action of carbohydrate-digesting amylase enzymes found in saliva. Once food is swallowed, it makes its way down the esophagus to the stomach.

The stomach is a sac-like organ with strong, muscular walls. In addition to holding the food, it’s also a mixer and grinder. In the stomach, food is digested with the aid of gastric acid and a protein-digesting enzyme called pepsin. Gastric acid consists mainly of hydrochloric acid (HCl) and is very efficient at breaking down food material, particularly protein. If gastric acid production decreases, as is often the case with advancing age, digestion becomes less efficient. Fortunately, there are natural approaches to help support optimal digestion in the stomach. PDA Combination supplements the stomach’s digestive secretions with pepsin and hydrochloric acid in the form of betaine HCl. Food Enzymes also contains enzymes and betaine HCl to support digestion that occurs in the stomach as well as in the small intestine.

After food leaves the stomach, digestion continues in the small intestine, a loosely coiled tube made up of three segments: the duodenum, jejunum and ileum. The duodenum is responsible for continuing the process of breaking down food with the aid of bile from the gallbladder, and enzymes released by the pancreas and intestinal walls. Bile aids in breaking down fats into smaller molecules. Further digestion of fats, protein and carbohydrates takes place with the help of enzymes, including lipase, trypsin and amylase. Digestive enzyme products such as Hi-Lipase, Proactazyme® Plus, High Potency Protease and Protease Plus help support optimal digestion in the small intestine. Gallbladder Formula provides nutrients that support the proper function of the digestive system, particularly the liver and gallbladder.

Once food passes through the duodenum, its digestion is essentially complete and the absorption of nutrients into the bloodstream can begin. This takes place in the jejunum and ileum. During nutrient absorption, food molecules enter the bloodstream through the intestinal walls. The blood is then purified by the liver as harmful substances such as alcohol and ammonia are removed. The liver also stores fat-soluble vitamins (namely A, D, E and K) and excess glucose for future use. Products that support the liver include Chinese Liver Balance, Chinese Liver Balance TCM Concentrate, Liver Cleanse Formula, LIV-J, Milk Thistle Combination and Milk Thistle Time Release.

By the time the food matter reaches the large intestine, or colon, it is mostly composed of indigestible material and water. Here excess water and any residual minerals are absorbed. Fiber aids this process by promoting the movement of the remaining debris through the intestine and easing the passage of waste (also known as stool). Everybody’s Fiber, Nature’s Three, LOCLO® and Psyllium Hulls Capsules are terrific dietary fiber products. In addition to promoting elimination, fiber also helps to support friendly bacteria. About 100 trillion bacteria reside in a healthy digestive system. These bacteria, or probiotics, perform several essential functions. Probiotics promote good digestion, support the immune system and produce vitamins such as vitamin K and biotin. NSP offers several probiotic products to help replenish bacteria in the gut, including L. Acidophilus, Bifidophilus Flora Force®, L. Reuteri Chewable and Probiotic Eleven. Altogether, the digestive process can take anywhere between 24–72 hours and is complete once stool is eliminated.

Healthy Tip: Got a pain in the neck? Try a Raindrop

Published by bodymind under General, Health & Wellness

I tell you, I guess my most challenging pains have come while sleeping. Just recently I took a nap and woke up with one of those nasty kinks in my neck, which was quite a “pain in the neck”. Part of the pain was of course due to tissue, however, it seemed to stem from a vertebra in my neck that was a bit out of alignment. Being that I did not have quick access to a chiropractor and that I recently had dealt with structural issues in my lower back, I immediately tried something that had been very effective in the healing process of my lower back. That therapy is called RAINDROP therapy through the use of therapeutic grade essential oils.

Success Tips for healing a pain in the neckI mean this pain in the neck was creating some nasty headaches which made it pretty tough to enjoy a good part of my day. I asked my lovely wife to help me by simply rubbing these particular oils in their sequence, and I kid you not, in just a few hours my neck was over 90% better. Part of the beauty about this process is that I can repeat it as many times as I need and in the comforts of my own home. Plus, I get to enjoy a fragrant room. Below I share with you the key essential oils that are used in this RAINDROP therapy, and some of their benefits. However, if you choose to use this process yourself, you can simply order the RAINDROP kit (press here for details on how to order) and all the oils come in one package, along with instructions. Or if you want to learn how to do this process hands on, I recommend you visit www.lindahenning.com and see when the next free RAINDROP class is scheduled. Enjoy and may this support you in your healing.

Here are the oils that are used in the RAINDROP technique and in their application sequence:
(As shared by Gary Young)

  • Oregano has potent antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties.
  • Thyme is highly antimicrobial, inhibiting the growth of infectious micro-organisms. It easily penetrates the skin and travels throughout the body.
  • Basil or Balsam Fir: Basil has antispasmodic properties that relax muscles. It is also anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial. Balsam fir is an excellent substitute for basil and is less irritating to sensitive skin.
  • Cypress oil improves circulation, relieves spasms and swelling, and helps heal damaged tissue.
  • Wintergreen and Birch are virtually identical chemically. They are anti-inflammatory and analgesic (pain-relieving) due to their high methyl salicylate content. They are excellent for bones and joints.
NOTE: Be careful of your sources in obtaining either of these oils. It is Gary Young’s experience in the market that there is very little natural birch essential oil available worldwide. Additionally, much of the wintergreen sold today has been chemically extended and adulterated with synthetic methyl salicylate.
  • Marjoram oil is antispasmodic and muscle-relaxing.
  • Peppermint enhances the effects of all the preceding essential oils. It also has pain-killing and antimicrobial properties, stimulating circulation and cooling inflamed tissue.

I guess I should also mention that Valor is an important oil to use in this process.  Many call this oil the “chiropractor in a bottle”, and in my experience, I would agree with them.  Though Valor is not one of the oils in the Raindrop package, I believe it is a worthwhile oil to include.

Press here to learn how to order any of these therapeutic grade essential oils from Young Living.

Or you can go directly to the ordering site by pressing here.

I trust this information will support you in your journey to better health.

Gall Bladder or Not? The Choice Is Yours - Ultimately it’s your health.

Published by bodymind under Health & Wellness, NSP

A lifetime isn’t nearly long enough to figure out what a lifetime is all about.

Gall Bladder

One ongoing trend in modern medicine is the emergency gall bladder removal. Plugged with stones, it begins to cause health problems, and instead of just removing the stones, the whole gall bladder is removed. Without the gall bladder the bile salts are not stored, and are just constantly released into the bowel. This irritates the small intestine when there isn’t any food in it. Without the gall bladder, a human can’t efficiently break fats down into the smallest molecules needed for proper utilization. Many times these fats are Essential Fatty Acids. A lack of EFAs is a growing health concern in the US and much of this can definitely be attributed to a weakened gall bladder. Improperly broken down fatty acids can also lead to diseases of the lymphatic system, since the lymphatic system is a carrier of fats.

Bile is also one of the most disregarded methods the body uses for toxin disposal. Honest health advisers know the amount of bile your body produces is directly related to the amount of toxins you can excrete, the key word here is can. One of the primary functions of bile is to break toxins down into smaller molecules, just as it does fats. The bile attaches itself to the toxins and carries it through the colon. Bile will also help cleanse the bowels of viruses, bacteria, and fungi. Bile also strengthens our normal bowel flora by keeping these invaders at bay.

When the body’s toxins are not excreted quickly, they cause inflammation, immune response, fat storage in the blood vessels and bile ducts of the liver. As bile production slows and the wrong cholesterol levels elevate, it leads to plaque filled arteries and veins. In turn, this leads to all sorts of disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, sleep apnea, hemorrhoids, varicose veins, psoriasis, and edema.

All toxic skin conditions may be traced to low bile production. How? The skin is the largest eliminative organ in the body, and when the lack of bile creates a condition in the bowel of the inability to breakdown and eliminate toxins, the skin is one of the eliminative organs that must overcome this condition. That pimple may be just a case of low bile salts. For many, it is as simple as supplementing bile salts to remedy a bad skin complexion.

When there is a viral or bacterial infection within the body, and as the body fights and kills these invaders, the dead remnants of the infection are processed by the liver and dumped in the bowels. These toxins, known as endotoxins, are some of the most deadly toxic substances there is. Until the liver cleans the blood of the endotoxins, these remnants cause inflammation and cellular degradation. Severe inflammation overwhelms the body, and soft tissues and organs are destroyed. Blood thickens to the point it coagulates right in the veins. A Hungarian research scientist found bile salts split the endotoxins into harmless fragments, and halted the cellular destruction.

Once a gall bladder has been removed the body cannot regulate proper bile flow until it grows back. When it does, it functions at a lower level than the gall bladder of birth. At any rate, the ability to store bile salts are reduced, and the bile is completely gone after the next meal, and none is left to eliminate toxins or fight pathogens.

The phyto-estrogens so common today from our plastic society are causing a hormone nightmare with women. Instead of using synthetic hormones to attempt to adjust the hot flashes, migraines, weight control, water retention, etc. doesn’t it just make more sense to just increase bile salts to destroy these plastic hormone mimics?

So what can I take to increase bile? Proactazyme and Food Enzymes are a direct replacement. Lecithin keeps bile thin, and reduces the need for bile by duplicating several things bile does. Milk Thistle and Dandelion combinations increase bile production naturally. Gall Bladder Formula, Liver Cleanse Formula, Red Beet Root Formula, and Liver Balance all increase bile production.

A Portuguese research group found a way to mix oil, water, and simple sugars to form a “cooking fat” that acts the same way as transfats or saturated fats, the stuff that makes baked goods taste good. The big difference here is this process works with oils like olive, grape seed, and sunflower. Now to get food manufacturers interested in the process.

Erectile dysfunction is a good indicator of heart disease or stroke because both conditions occur when certain arteries fail to expand fully in response to being stimulated. Because the arteries in the penis are smaller than those in the heart, for instance, the erectile dysfunction might show up sooner.

Men embarrassed to talk to their health advisers need to get over it, quickly. The risk of developing heart disease occurs with erectile dysfunction, perhaps much sooner.

Research has looked at whether drugs used to treat erectile dysfunction might protect against cardiac problems in patients with vascular disorders. No such luck. Although some improvement was shown, most men still developed heart disease. If you are suffering from ED, see your health adviser about it.

The body works only for immediate survival, not toward long-term health. Mankind has a survival instinct that has served him well. In order to withstand threatened attacks, real or imagined, the body goes defense physiology. You may not be consciously aware that your body is responding to events of the past, but these buried memories of a defensive state may keep your body in a defense physiology without you knowing it. In time, you will begin to experience pain and develop symptoms of disease, all because your memory patterns are keeping your body in a tensed survival mode rather than allowing it to respond to the stimuli of the moment. Your body is in a defensive state and accumulating more acid than it can handle. Thoughts exert the most powerful influence on your health, and negative thoughts are the number one acid producer in your body. Stress in the form of negative thoughts has health damaging consequences.

I would rather live my life as if there is a God, and die to find out there isn’t, than live my life as if there isn’t, and die to find out there is.

Dr. Mercola shares his opinion on Xylitol as a sweetener.

Published by bodymind under Health & Wellness

With nutrition there is so much apparent contradiction, sometimes making it tough to “digest” or truly know what is best for you. Even in the topic of sugar there is much contradiction. In the following video Dr. Mercola answers a question sent to him asking his opinion on whether or not Xilitol was a good sweetener. I also added a few common items that have Xylitol as a “dietary supplement”. (You’ll understand why I quoted it after watching the video).

Interested in reading Dr. Mercola’s “Sweet Deception”, press here.

Here is a list of a few common items that contain Xylitol

As for stevia, I’ve used many different brands and I can tell you from personal experience that not all stevia is made the same.  Some leave a bit of a bitter taste afterwards.  My personal favorite is the KAL brand, it is very yummy and I’ve used it to replace sugar in my household.
