In the process of creating a marketing plan, there are some very defined key components that must be in place in order for that marketing plan to be effective. I’ve encountered a great deal of businesses that do what I tend to call “Tactical Marketing” versus “Strategic Marketing”. The main difference between the two is that strategic marketing actually uses a strategy and involves various marketing resources to work hand in hand with one another. While tactical marketing ends up being some idea that is not linked with any bigger strategy, and often ends up in failure.
